Treatment of Multi-mode Lighting
IPART has released a notice to provide guidance on the treatment of multi-mode lighting for commercial lighting activities. This applies to technologies that have a built in motion sensor which is used to switch a light between a full power and standby mode.
Standard factors may now be applied to assume the time that a technology is on full power mode, and on standby mode, providing that the lamp circuit power of both modes have been accepted by IPART.
This significantly simplifies the creation of ESCs based for technologies with these in built lighting controls, and avoids having to go through costly and time consuming data logging exercises.
Note, that the application of standard factors is more conservative, and that data logging exercises are still accepted by IPART should this be desirable.
