Important deadline for commercial lighting projects
We would like to remind our customers of an important date under the ESS related to commercial lighting projects. In summary:
- Lighting projects that have been installed in 2014 can only generate ESCs if these are created before the end of June 2015. In previous years it was possible to discount projects after June each year, but this is no longer possible.
- Emerging Lighting Technologies (ELTs) that have been accepted for use by IPART in the past are automatically classified as “conditionally” approved. These ELTs can be used in projects to generate ESCs until the end of June 2015 unless they are “unconditionally” approved before then. In order to realise this additional performance tests (e.g. related to lifetime) are required.
- After June 2015 it will no longer be possible to generate ESCs for direct retrofits of fluorescent tubes with LED tubes that have been accepted by IPART prior to 30 June 2014. Instead, LED tubes need to be “unconditionally” accepted in combination with a fixture (either the original fluoro or a dedicated LED one).
We strongly urge our customers to closely read through the above points, and to assess whether this applies to any of your projects or lighting technologies. Should this be the case, then please make sure that follow up actions are initiated early enough for Demand Manager to process projects, and for IPART to finalise approvals. Demand Manager will not take responsibility for late submittals, and for delays in approvals outside of our control.
