ESC Price Update
As of 17 June 2014 Demand Manager has helped clients secure funding for sustainable projects totalling:
$42 728 716
The ESC spot market price has seen a considerable drop since late last year. Where ESCs were trading around the $17.50 dollar mark at the time, they are now trading between $11-12. The main reason for this is that there has been an oversupply of certificates on the market due to a large uptake of commercial lighting activities.
While it can’t be guaranteed, there are a number of factors that may positively influence the ESC price in the second half of this year.
- The introduction of the new Rule, see other article in this newsletter, has posed some limitations on the creation of ESCs for commercial lighting projects.
- The State Government is currently reviewing the ESS in order to identify how the Scheme can be further enhanced to meet the State Government’s NSW 2021 targets. A possible outcome could be an increase in the annual ESC target. Further announcements on this are expected to be made later this year.
