Australian Building Greenhouse Rating Scheme
The Australian Building Greenhouse Rating (ABGR) Scheme is a 'world first initiative' to help commercial building owners and tenants across Australia benchmark their greenhouse performance.
Administered nationally by the NSW Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability (DEUS) and locally by leading state greenhouse agencies, the ABGR scheme rates buildings from one to five stars with five stars representing exceptional greenhouse performance. Current market best practice in Australia is three stars.
The ABGR scheme administrator regularly runs initiatives to assist building owners and tenants to rate and improve their buildings, such as the 3CBDs Greenhouse Initiative in Sydney, Parramatta and North Sydney CBDs.
The ABGR scheme is also a component of the NSW Government's Energy Management Policy (GEMP) with a requirement for NSW Government agencies to rate and improve the performance of their buildings and tenancies.
ABGR is also recognised as a calculation methodology for the creation of NGACs from efficiency measures implemented in commercial buildings (see Greenhouse gas Abatement Scheme).
Demand Manager can help advise your organisation on how ABGR can fit within your current asset management procedures.
