Sydney Olympic Park Authority
Sydney Olympic Park Authority is responsible for managing and developing the 640-hectares that comprise the Park and maintain it as a lasting legacy for the people of New South Wales. Over 6.6 million people visited Sydney Olympic Park in 2004.
SOPA were one of three organisations to financially benefit from the Lighting Retrofit and Education Project which was awarded $206,050 in financial assistance from the NSW Government's Energy Savings Fund. Demand Manager Pty Ltd sucessfully managed the grant application process.
The Lighting Retrofit and Education Project includes lighting upgrades at an office block, sporting complex and 17 council buildings to be undertaken by energy services company Eco$ave Pty Ltd. Eco$ave will be working with IAG, North Sydney Council and the Sydney Olympic Park Authority to upgrade lighting and deliver an education program to share the benefits of the initiatives with staff, customers and other organisations.
The upgrades will save nearly 13,000 megawatt-hours of electricity, 12,700 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and significantly reduce peak summer demand.
